1690 RU : Arthur Vowden has identified the car, and can narrow-down the driver to either Duncan or Richard Welch, but can't identify the year. The photograph (we can't read the start number in the original) was taken on Westcott Hill on either the 1980 or 1981 MCC Spring Trial - can anyone identify which year, and whether it's Duncan or Richard? GU 8217 : 192? MG 18/80, on the 1949 Full Moon Trial : The caption on the back of this photograph merely states "1949 Full Moon Trial". Within a couple of days of it appearing here, Roger Stanbury telephoned me to say that the driver is Bristol "MG Legend" Morgan Marshall and the passenger in the back seat is his father. GU 8217 is now owned by Peter Jones and it is still in regular use. A few days later, Pete Hart emailed me to confirm that the Full Moon Trial was a Bristol Motor Club event. The name comes from the name of the club headquarters for many years, the Full Moon Hotel in Bristol. Accounts of the 1946 and 1947 events are in "More Wheelspin" and they used hills such as Burledge and Elwell now more familiar as "Allen" hills. We know that the 1949 event was run in the Chew Valley/Mendips area but we still haven't identified the section. Can anyone help?
